Check-ins (Script) The following is a suggested introduction to the check-in script, typically used only at the beginning of a net. This is acting as Net Control for this session of the OM International Sideband Society net. This is a traffic, worked all States and awards type net. You do not have to be a member to check-in. All amateur General Class and above are welcome.

Check-ins on the Fly (Rule) Check-ins on the fly is a term used by many NCS to indicate they will take check-ins outside of the normal pause in the worklist. These are typically called for on AIM and are allowed at the discretion of the NCS. However, no call for a check-in on AIM can be added to the official worklist until they are heard, on the air, by NCS or a designated relay. Check-ins (Rule) Check-ins are not allowed until NCS gains control of the frequency and calls for check-ins to occur. Stations wishing to check in should call with their full callsign and OMISS number (optional). NCS or a designated relay must hear the station check in on the air in order to be placed on the worklist.

Frequency Selection (Rule) Please arrive to your schedule net at least 30 minutes prior to the posted start time. Note: Certain nets / times have agreements in place with other active nets that might prevent the start of 30 minutes prior. Please speak with your Band Coordinator for this information. For example, NATA net runs up against the 40m net, and we have an agreement in place to coordinate this.

Protocol (Guideline) Protocol refers to the way a worklist is run during a net. It’s generally accepted and fair practice to choose a protocol at the beginning of a net and stick to it throughout the entire net. However, that is not a hard and fast rule. Sometimes conditions or QRM can dictate changes during net operation. Changes to protocol during the net should be done cautiously and infrequently.
